Katie Keogler, an artist with The Catholic Ministry Team, is set to release her debut album “Take My Heart.” Keogler, a 2007 graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, has sang, performed and
led worship over the years at numerous locations, including Franciscan.
The album is named after a quote by St. Augustine which states,
“Our heart is restless until in rests in You.”
Keogler said this quote has meant a lot to her in her life. “I've
always loved the quote by St. Augustine: "Our heart is restless until in rests
in you." Our culture is filled with so much chaos, and we're all yearning for
something greater than ourselves. It took me a while to learn, but it's only in
giving our hearts to God that we come to really find
peace.”
“ Take my Heart,” contains six songs.
The album has songs on it she has written and also songs that she added
her own twist to.
She said, “There are a couple old familiar hymns with a new twist
and a few songs that I've written. Listeners with recognize the older songs of
Holy, Holy, Holy and I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say, but done with an updated
style. Along with the older hymns, I recorded a beautiful song called I
Surrender All, to which I added my own Marian bridge: "Not my will but yours be
done". Catholic Ministry Team Artist and Founder Anthony Muhs wrote a song called, “ Lord, I'm
Amazed” about the Holy Family that he graciously let me record. Lord, I'm Amazed
is about the parents of Jesus, St. Joseph and Mary, and their role in the Holy
Family. How both are entrusted with certain graces that enable them to be the
parents of our Savior. There's also a song I wrote while in college for my
household called “Queen of the Angels” about honoring Mary as the mother of
Jesus . She has been named Regina Angelorum, or Queen of the Angels, because she
reflects the Kingship of her Son. Because Mary is the perfect imitator of God's
will, it is my prayer that we can reflect her in her love for her son. And the
song Anthony and I wrote together, Take My Heart, which is the featured track on
the album.”
Keogler saw recording in a studio a little different than playing in a church, which she
normally used to.
“Recording the album was awesome.... and intimidating. I've been
talking about recording for years, and to see it finally happening was
indescribable. The studio was beautiful, but it was such a strange environment
because I'm normally playing in a church!” Keogler said. “It was such a gift to
know that I might be able to speak to someone through my music in the same way
that music speaks to me. It is my prayer that even just one person, will hear a
lyric or chorus on the album and have it pierce their heart in the same way God
speaks to me.”
Keogler first gotinvolved in Music Ministry in high school. From high school, she went on to the
Franciscan University of Steubenville where she led music at FOP, festival of
praise. Now she leads music at Fan the Fire, and the pre-rally for the Diocese
of Bridgeport at Steubenville East.
“I first got into music ministry when I was in high school. I am
from a musical family, so it was natural for me to step in when our church's
worship band needed a pianist - and it just so happened to be led by my mom,”
Keogler said. “Being involved in music ministry was sometimes the one thing that
kept me going to Church. Especially during my conversion, music spoke to me in
ways that recited prayers and homilies just couldn't. It was through music that
my heart was drawn out of myself and made whole in
Him.”
Keogler is a gifted musician who has experience in leading worship and
playing Catholic music. Heralbum,” Take my Heart,” displays her talent and also contains music that will
help guide people in prayer.“Take My Heart” will be released this fall, both in CD format and in a
Digital format. To keep posted for the latest news regarding the release of “Take My Heart” be sure to visit KatieKeogler.com or www.catholicministryteam.com, and don’t forget to follow the Catholic Ministry Team
